I'm with Multimedia i don't see why Apple would intentionally cripple the Macbook with yonah when they coast exactly the same and are just a drop in upgrade.
Maybe the low end MacBook will keep Yonah and get a price drop, while the higher end MacBook, black and white, will get Merom. That might lead to the most sales, to both those looking for a cheaper MacBook, and those waiting for Merom.

That setup screams 'old, slow legacy stuff'.
Why should a new iteration of the MacPro be a hostage to someone wanting a housing for 6 of their old, slow and small drives?
Why support 3 or 4 eSATA and Firewire expansion PCIe cards when that can all be done over a single Thunderbolt cable?
Sounds like your setup needs a bit of a spring clean. A newer, smaller box would force you to consolidate onto a smaller number of bigger and faster drives (those 150GB raptors are slow by today's standards).

I dont know if its intentional, but your Signature link is broken, it has 1 too many h's. It begins hhttps ;)
Neat. Guess, I did a sloppy cut and paste when I switched over from the full URL to the truncated URLs that Apple provides. It's just a lolcat, so you're not missing much.

Exactly...a 12 incher with Core 2 Duo, backlit keyboard and a reasonable GPU is all I need...nothing really fancy.
That would be nice, but it seems unlikely. Apple seem to consider the black MacBook the small "professional" laptop. Maybe it'll get a descrete GPU though, that would be pretty good, no?

a lb. of butter is still called a lb. of butter here in Canada
When growing up in Europe in the 70s a pound was simply redefined as 500 g. For most purposes the 10% error is insignificant.
Volume units (1 liter = 1 quart) work similarly, and 1-2 liter containers are fairly common even here in the US.

From what I've read, this really isn't that big of an issue. The database is just a list (that's locally stored) of places that you've been to. If it was uploaded to Apple, I would definitely be concerned but if it's a local file, then what's the fuss?
It exists. There's no reason for it to exist. You can't disable it. And there are HUGE privacy implications should the file be accessed without your permission - by thieves, stalkers (or worse), advertisers, police, etc. - none of whom can access your cell company's location records, except authorities, and even then only by subpoena. Which means a judge has to agree that there's a good reason for them to need it.
Why is the file even there in the first place?

If theres no announced release date it can't be delayed. It would just be later than usual. Thats not the same thing. I'm all for waiting. The longer I hang on to my 3GS the more reason I have to upgrade. Just hope It doesnt break so I can sell it to help cover the cost.

I am starting to think that this is report maybe rooted in Stock manipulation of AAPL, in the future Apple quarterly report April 20th. Think about it, why hasn't any other electronic devices named it might affect also?

Nothing really to see here except that someone made a nice app that can parse this file and list locations on a map where you've been. And if you encrypt you're iphone backups(good practice) the consolidate.db can't be even read by the app or Apple unless they bruteforce it.
All someone has to do is instead check system logs to see if unencrypted consolidate.db files were being uploaded to Apple or used in any shady ways.

WHAT RIGHT DOE"S APPLE HAVE
to act like big brother and control what another company does?
Steve Jobs started off with Apple to fight "the man" yet he is the man.
Microsoft would never do this, they know better because thousands of Apple fans would be on the internet with Safari posting the most vile crap you would ever want to read.
Why do the Apple fans allow this to continue? what is so great about a company that lies about who they are?
While Apple makes some innovative cool tech toys this behavior continues to prove who they are a controlling Money grubbing capitalistic company!
I will revel in the day that Jailbreaking goes to court again and Apple is told once and for all they can't tell everyone what to do and must allow Jailbreaking. Yes it will happen, what comes around goes around.
Users are already speaking. I switched to Android, and I don't even need to root to use it with all the things I jailbroke iPhone to be able to do.
Now my friends have started seeing my device and switching too, makes Apple's iPhone 4 look primitive.
As soon as Android has a tablet that's decent hardware I'm totally gone from iOS. My bet is that'll be in the next 6 months.

Enjoy your brand new 129$ Mac OS X latest revision (the most advanced, the most unique, the most... bla bla bla bla...) carrying more than XXX features (aka... just making the Mac OS X experience more iOS-alike so you get used to AppStore since soon you'll have to go through this method of delivery as there won't be any other one, because Mr. Jobs wants more money...)
Yep... I think that 129$ sounds quite ok, for nothing :D
Though I'm not surprise... there's nothing shocking that they can implement. This "update" is aimed at training people into AppStore (aka money)... and they even charge for it :D
I lol'd. No matter what people will complain. When Snow Leopard was released people wanted more UI changes and more features. Now when Lion is released all people want is under the hood improvements. SMH

The current case size is perfect imo. I know Apple likes their products to be as small and quiet as possible but you have to wonder if heat will be an issue with two six core processors in such a small case.
exactly, not to mention throwing in a decent GPU and several HDD's

What's stopping Apple from putting 6, 8 of these little bastards on the motherboard? This way they can make up for any speed advantage Intel has right now.

Look who is acting like Big Brother...
Jail breaking, as an act, is not illegal. Apple is flexing its influence as a it has a right to do. they are worried/scared that the jail breaking phenomenon is spreading to far and this seems like a desperate act.
AND they are worried about a secondary app market place. Hmmm, I'm no lawyer but is there may be an anti-trust case building against Apple.
And as for the warranty...it is a non-issue. Your fallback is to restore to standard iOS. o big deal.
It too more than 30 years but Apple is acting like Microsoft!

IP4 4.3.1 jailbroken, of course. iPad 2, MBP 17"

I don't think the flip phones are fads. Look at all the phones on the market, and the most of them are flips. The most desireable ones are usually the flip phones and have been a while. I remember the first Nokia candybars were extremely popular but those never had that good of features and were cheap. In my opinion, flip phones are more durable (in most cases) and look better.
if you are talking about nokia.. it's sinking..
candy bar is still the best... esp those from Sony Ericsson..
I hope apple phone is good enough to replace my love for Sony Ericsson phone

Anyone think that a gig of RAM might be standard in the MBP?
It's already standard in the iMac, except the education model, and that's a "consumer" machine.I just went to configure one (makes me happy while I'm waiting) and 1 GIG ram stick was what came with the laptop as the standard option. You mean in the form of a 1GB stick wiht the other slot empty like they do already?
My memeory is failing. I did know that.

it was a joke in reference to your snarky comment relax.
It might be a joke, but you did have a point. If you don't like the products Apple makes, buy something else. I don't like many choices Microsoft makes with their operating systems. I don't buy them.
